Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Sr. Miriam Ahmad and I will be your child's Grade 3 teacher this year. I have been teaching at Al-Hijra Academy for the past few years and I am super excited to be teaching Grade 3. My goal as a teacher is always to make sure that your child has a fun and enjoyable learning experience :).
During the first month of school, I will be focusing our time on helping students get to know one another and learn school and classroom expectations/routines.
Learning and Homework Expectations You should plan with your child a period of up to 30 minutes each day for them to work on homework. I also encourage you and your child to read every night for 30 minutes. You can help your child by reading to them in English or in any other language you choose. This will help strengthen their reading and stimulate your child's imagination, which will become more evident in his/her writing, inshallah.
Lunch and Nutrition Breaks Students will have 2 nutrition breaks (one in the morning and afternoon) and one lunch break. Please make sure that all lunches and snacks are HEALTHY and NUT-FREE.
Parent-Teacher Communication I believe that the best way for students to achieve their greatest potential is by frequent home-school communication. The more I know about your child, the better I can efficiently meet his/her needs in the classroom.
An agenda is an ideal tool to communicate between home and school. Please check and sign your child's agenda every day. If you have a concern, please write a note in your child's agenda as I will be checking them daily.
